We encourage all Lindsey students to participate in the 2024-2025 Reflections program.
The theme will be "Accepting Imperfection…" The creative possibilities are endless! We look forward to receiving wonderful entries from you all! Please note that in order to participate in Reflections, at least one household member must join the Lindsey PTA.

Grade Divisions:
- Primary: Pre-school - Grade 2
- Intermediate: Grades 3-5
- Middle School: Grades 6-8
- Special Artist: All grades welcome
Review Criteria:
Interpretation: How closely the piece relates to the theme, based on the artwork itself and the artist statement.
Creativity: How creative and original the piece is in its conception of the theme and its presentation.
Technique: The level of skill demonstrated in the basic principles/techniques of the arts area.
Due Date for Submissions: All entries must be submitted to the front office at Lindsey by Wednesday, October 11, 2024.

Reflections Frequently Asked Questions:
- What is Reflections?
Art Reflections is a National PTA Arts program that recognizes all participants at the Local (Lindsey Elementary PTA ), Council/Region(Allen Council of PTAs), State (Texas)and National PTA levels!
Although Art Reflections has a contest format, all participants’ creativity and artistic efforts will be recognized!
- Who can participate?
All Lindsey students are invited to express their artistic talents and participate in our Art Reflections contest! In order for your child’s submission to be considered for advancing to the next level, at least one person from the student’s primary household must be a current member of our Lindsey PTA.
- How can my child participate?
Bring in your child’s work along with a completed Entry Form to the Lindsey front office on on before October 11th at 2:30 pm. Each entry MUST be accompanied by an entry form, and meet the entry requirements/specifications.
- Do we need to fill out an Entry Form?
Every piece of artwork needs to be submitted with a completed Entry Form. Please make sure your child gives his/ her work a Title and writes an Artist Statement.
- What is an Artist Statement?
In the Artist Statement (10-100 words long), the student should write about his/her work and what it means to him/her. It would be helpful if the artist statement tells how the work relates to the theme, what is the personal connection to the theme, what/who was the inspiration, and what was used to create the work.
- What is the theme for this year?
The theme for this year is: Accepting Imperfection
The judges want to know who the student is and how he/she sees the world around him/her. The work is supposed to express who the student is as an individual.
- What are the different acceptable Arts categories for the contest?
The student has the chance to express who he/she is as an individual through one or more of the following: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts!
- How many works of art can one student submit?
Students may enter the Reflections program in one or more arts categories. One entry per category.
- How many students can work on one submission?
Each entry must be the original work of one student only. Only one student will be recognized as the award recipient for each entry. Other individuals may appear in or perform in a student’s work, but the work itself must be the creative product of one student only.
- Is The Child Supposed To Sign The Work?
In order to help with the anonymity of the work and non biased judging, we ask that the student not sign the work, but label it on the back instead.
- Parents may not do the work for their child.
Parents, please allow your child the opportunity to create an individual art piece all on their own.
- How will the submissions be judged?
Judges will be looking for:
Interpretation: How closely the piece relates to the theme, based on the artwork itself and the artist statement. The artist statement is extremely important, be sure to spend a good amount of time writing your statement.
Creativity: How creative and original the piece is in its interpretation of the theme and its presentation.
Technique: The level of skill demonstrated in the basic principles/techniques of the arts area.
- How Many Submissions Will Advance To The Next Level?
Twenty percent (20%) of the participating submissions will advance to the next level. While we value the time and effort every child puts into their entry and would love to advance all entries to the next level, we must abide by the rules set forth by PTA.
- Will My Child Get His/Her Work back? When?
All the students’ work will be returned except for the entries that advance to the next level. The advancing submissions will be forwarded to the next level of judging. If an entry is forwarded to the state level, it will not be returned until the end of the school year.
