Lone Star Press
Thank you for your interest in publishing a FREE hardcover book for Lone Star Press!
HOW DOES THIS PROGRAM WORK?
Lone Star Press is a student book publishing program that promotes literacy and encourages creativity by providing students with an opportunity to write and illustrate real books on their own with little involvement from teachers or parents. Lone Star Press books are printed as hardcover books by Studentreasures Publishing. Click HERE and HERE to see two examples.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
All students at Lindsey Elementary are invited to participate in this rewarding program! Every child has a story to tell!
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
This PTA-funded program is offered at no additional cost to students. A free copy of your child's book will be kept in the Lindsey library until your child moves or graduates at which point, the book will become yours to keep. Copies of the books are available after publishing for an additional cost.
CAN I ORDER MORE COPIES OF THE BOOKS?
If you would like to purchase extra copies of the books, an order form will be provided once your child's book is complete. Your child's hardcover book will be delivered to Lindsey in Spring 2018. We will hold an Author's Reception recognizing his/her achievement at that time. You are under no obligation to purchase additional books. If you do not order extra books your child can still participate in this Lindsey PTA-sponsored program.
LET'S GET STARTED!
- This year, we will not be typing the books; all pages (manuscripts and illustration pages) will be scanned in so that you will have a "snapshot" of your child's work in a beautiful bound book
- Please read and sign this FORM to receive a Lone Star Press Packet to complete your manuscript and illustrations. This year Lindsey will have to PRE-PAY for the packets, so please consider this when committing your student to this activity
- Turn in the FORM for a Lone Star Press Packet to the Library BEFORE Monday, October 2nd!! Packets will be distributed in mid to late October. Specific instructions for the packets will be sent home, but your child can start drafting their ideas now!
