PTA Volunteer Opportunities 

 

Allen Eagle Run: Chair promotes the Allen Eagle Run and helps organize Lindsey activities surrounding it such as contests and prizes. Volunteers help at various events around the school.  

 

Art Sparks:  Chair trains volunteers and organizes schedule for the Art Sparks program where volunteers work with the Allen Arts Alliance to introduce artists to students in the classroom (1st-4th grade), 4 times a year starting in November.

 

Book Fair: Chair plans, organizes, sets schedules, and works with classes to view books. Volunteers help decorate, help students/teachers during preview days, set up and take down book fairs. Volunteers also work in short shifts to assist students in making selections and as cashiers.

 

Box Tops:  Chairs organize 2 contests throughout the year, count and mail Box Tops, and collect money. Volunteers count Box Tops.

 

Environmental: Chair helps beautify the Lindsey campus and promotes recycling, Earth Day activities and other “Green” conscious events. Volunteers help at various events around the school.

 

Fall Festival: Chair plans food and activities. Volunteers needed for planning committee. Volunteers assist at booths and count tickets.

 

Family Engagement Chair:

 

Healthy LivingChair finds a way to encourage health mindedness and coordinates the annual 21-Day Snack Challenge. Volunteers help at various events around the school.

 

Hospitality: Chair organizes hospitality needs for PTA events. Chair plans Tears and Cheers (breakfast the first day of school for parents of Kindergartners). Volunteers provide food and beverages at PTA events.

 

Kindergarten Summer Activities:  Chair plans summer play dates or activities for incoming Kindergartners.

 

Lindsey Fun Run:  Chair works with P.E. coaches to plan a fun run fundraiser. Chair is responsible for communication, money collection and deposits, and scheduling. Volunteers help the day of the event by counting laps and passing out prizes.

 

Lone Star Press: Chair works with the Librarian, teachers and book publishing company to set dates, schedule editing times with students, communicate and market to school, and plan author reception. Volunteers will help edit student books with the author during the school day. They type and enter book into publishing software. All volunteers will attend a short training session on software.

 

Newsletter: Generate the “Low Down” weekly parent newsletter.

 

Reflections Chair: Organize the National PTA’s Reflection Program (Art Contest) and collects artwork from Lindsey Students.  Each year, the program adopts a new theme that students use to create artwork.  The work is judged locally and, if qualified, on a district, state and/or national level.

 

Room Parent Coordinator:  Chair communicates PTA events and volunteer opportunities to class room parents

 

School Supplies: Chair meets with teachers to create supply lists and coordinates collection of payment and delivery of supplies.

 

Spelling Bee:  Chair coordinates the spelling bee competitions for all grade levels, in accordance with Scripps Spelling Bee rules. Volunteers judge or assist at Spelling Bees.

 

Spirit Wear Designs and Sales:  Chairs create spirit wear, organize sale events and distribute spirit wear. Volunteers work shifts at events to sell spirit wear. They also assist in delivering spirit wear to students.

 

Staff Appreciation:  Chair plans and hosts teacher appreciation breakfast, luncheons and other special events. Chair plans and communicates Teacher Appreciation Week activities. Volunteers assist with special staff appreciation events. Chair coordinates Teacher Snack Cart: purchases snacks, drinks and paper products and keeps a list of supplies to be distributed to teachers once a month. Volunteers sign up for a shift to deliver snacks to teachers.

 

Watch D.O.G.S.: Chair coordinates program and hosts events to bring awareness to the program. Chair also orders supplies for program. Dads (volunteers) serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the counselor.

 

Website Chair: Utilize Membership Toolkit to keep the Lindsey PTA website current with programs, events and upcoming dates. No previous web experience necessary!

 

6th Grade ChairChair works with 6th grade teachers to plan 6th graduation celebration events and fundraising. Volunteers assist in graduation activities (e.g. Val-o-Grams).
